"Maybe on a later trip, in a new form on a different plane, or in the second or third set of this block, where it would be smaller and more controllable."

Yeah, like cascade.

"wizards has been wanting to let players cast the cards they like, thus by providing all the mana and other resources to make such a wide quantity of what used to be unplayable cards now considerable"

Isn't providing mana to play cards you like basically the premise of playing a game of Magic: The Gathering?

@Biff Imprint suffers from utilizing cards that players want to cast (otherwise, why have that card in the deck?), and wizards has been wanting to let players cast the cards they like, thus by providing all the mana and other resources to make such a wide quantity of what used to be unplayable cards now considerable. Imprint works against this.

@Kanguilla Lodestone Golem is going to be at the bare minimum a sideboard card, and more likely, you will see a firm divide of artifact strong decks and artifact eating decks in the meta that will give Lodestone a good reason for being. Slowing down the rate of artifact destruction or interfering with tempo for less parasitic decks will be amazing for the Artifact heavy archetype that I suspect will form.

@Bob Affinity could, theoretically, come back in a form such as the land-golem cycle, but I doubt it. There is just too much potential and too many bad memories to bother with it on this trip back. Maybe on a later trip, in a new form on a different plane, or in the second or third set of this block, where it would be smaller and more controllable.

Thing about Lodestone Golem is, the more people playing artifacts, the less valuable it will become. I'm guessing that artifact themed decks are going to be more common, so I don't see why that card would be more desirable.

Why do you feel so strongly about imprint? It was clearly the most fair and usable mechanic. And Lord knows they won't add any different abilities to Scars, since they're going back to Mirrodin, so why take imprint away? I'd like some intelligent debate re: this ability plz.
