I definitely got fortunate with some wheels, but I do see your points with building a control deck. I really, really wanted to make top 4 and qualify for the WWK championship so I was trying to build to my strengths, which are awkwardly all midrangey. Even though I had ob nixlis, I realized that there are more ways to kill him with the inception of worldwake and didn't want to go all in on him. I wanted to be able to attack well as well as block well and bounce creatures at will.

I do agree that my p1p2 was wrong and either stonework puma or blade of the bloodchief would've been better picks. But after seeing how things work out, I was glad to not have allies on my radar b/c I've been very underwhelmed with half-ass ally splashes with just 4 or 5 allies. I also probably don't give blade of the bloodchief enough credit, if I was already wanting to be black there's a good chance I will pick up some vampires to make it even better (and I could've, seeing but passing several lacerators and ritualists), and that's not even to say that blade could've been good without vampires; however looking what I ended up with I doubt that the blade would've made my 40. That doesn't make the pick wrong though.

And I disagree about bog tatters, that card is only as bad as you use it in the red zone and if I'm one of the black players at the table I never mind scooping it up.

Thanks for the comments though, I appreciate them.

Grats on the finish, I'm sure it feels quite good. Some random thoughts...

p1p2 - Blade of the Bloodchief has a much higher upside, where as Mark of Mutiny is probably going to be quite poor in any slower Black deck with Ob Nixilis. Even Stonework Puma is at least a more consistent pick, though not exciting.

P1p6- I'd probably take Cancel here. It's not great on your mana, but Tatters is pretty poor and Cancel plays right into the controlling deck your stitching together.

P2P2- I don't like this pick because of the deck your building. You have already made many controlling picks (Scorpion over Bloodghast, Disfigure over Lacerator [though thats not too close]) and you have a superb endgame with Ob. I'd much rather have a Mosquito or Gomazoa in these builds, with the Mosquito becoming great if Soul Stair or Grim Discovery tabeling.

P2P4- Diabolist could be ok as you already picked up a late Ged Thief, but you already took a Lacerator and passed a Puma p1 so this is more accetpable.

p2p9 - With no real fear of removal, I think I might rather have Shoal Serpent as an alternate win condition/big body..but this pick is pretty irrelevant. The draft goes deep though...

P3P8 - I take Mysteries here no question. Even if you've taken a few aggressive cards, your still pretty defensive and Mysteries is absurd in any sort of control build. Tradewinds in your slow deck..subpar.

I guess your deck did end up a little more on the aggressive side after some wheels in P2/P3, but you probably could have built a little more defensively. However, you are the draft champion, so my opinion is of lesser value =P Grats again
