Also, I would run Chandra over Sorin in Grixis, and keep those Cruel Ultimatums in the main over the 4th Sphinx and 4th Double Negative.

Anathemancer is a lot more than a Lightning Bolt. Control decks will try and make it a longer game, and obviously that will make Mancer really strong. Being outclassed by creatures is irrelevant when you talk about it versus Grixis, or UWR. If they counter him, then you can unearth him as he dodges counters then. He is obviously better than Banefire as you can cascade into him freely. Although he will have some competition in the form of Goblin Ruinblaster, I think Anathemancer is the more powerful option. By turn 6 or 7 I think they will be in the 5-6 damage range. Especially Grixis. UWR now has Halimar Depths, which is just adding to the Sejiri Refuge, Celestial Colonnade, and Glacial Fortress.

It is just a powerful option BR has that hopefully hasn't been forgotten about because 5CC is last season.

The Tar Pit is very strong in Grixis. The mana base is pretty finicky, but I'd try to squeeze some in.

The thing with UWR is that it gets tons better with worldwake. Treasure Hunt and Jace are sick and you get man lands. Post worldwake you have a real edge against Jund.

I have thought about the manlands in Grixis, specifically creeping tar pit. I don't know how I feel about lavaclaw reaches. I do know that I don't love that each can die to lightning bolt.

Anathamancer is certainly intersting. I ran jund last season, pre zendikar, and had maindeck mancers (who knew sprouting thrinax was so good then???) and they were always strong. I'm just not sure if they're anything other than a 3 cost lightning bolt right now as they're outclassed by just about every creature in the format when it comes to combat.

UWR does seem solid sean, I ran in a daily event in Magic online and had to battle through two UWR decks but Jund still got me there. Though I have to say ajani vengeant is BRUTAL.

I've been testing a bit and I have to say that UWR seems to be the deck to beat. The biggest problem seems to be the price tag. It costs almost $700 to build!

things to think about for grixis: man lands, and chopping down on the double negatives for some mixture of essence scatter and negate

FWIW I've also been playing a little bit of Grixis online with pyromancer's ascension, since it's pre-worldwake. Ascension is a must answer, unfortunately most decks can answer it. And of course, I'm not consistently beating Jund.
