So my comment is certainly late to the party.

with all the abilities to sac slivers the shadow sliver isn't so bad. When your opponent attacks, just sac the sliver granting shadow and block. Also keep in mind that amoeboid changeling can take creature types away to let you block if you really need to.

On the Amoeboid Changeling, I eventually just removed mine. There are a ton of slivers that conflict with this. If you have a ward sliver, crystalline sliver, or any sliver with a sacrifice ability, the changeling cannot fill its intended role. That being said, it can still be a good idea to include it. Just be aware that your opponent's recently changed creature could be immune to Sliver overlord taking "TARGET SLIVER creature." On top of that, if you have a sacrifice creature out, he could just sacrifice it before you get your hands on it. That's really bad if you have Necrotic sliver out (bye bye overlord).

I also prefer clot sliver over crypt sliver because of crystalline and ward, which are almost required to be in play for slivers to stay alive. Clot Sliver + Sedge Sliver is enough regen for me. I also run 2 Sinew Slivers and 2 Muscle Slivers as they're REALLY potent.

The mana for this deck also needs some slight tweaks. I put 5 of the recent 3 mana land cards in and an additional card of each vivid (removed duplicates). Top that off with prismatic omen and you shouldn't have any mana problems, ever.

I removed all of the spells, as there are better ones for cheap. Door of Destinies, alpha status, and training grounds are among my favorites. There's really no limitation to playing a 5color deck. It's not amazingly good, but it's a whole lot of fun and it will keep your friends guessing on what you'll pull out next.

you could also put a mana echoes in or an intruder alarm with gem hide sliver and make a lot of mana so you never have to worry about it.mana echoes costs about $1 and intruder alarm costs about $3

You forgot the most important one, You can completely remove Shadow sliver, and replace it with Shifting sliver. Slivers can only be blocked by slivers. however they can still block any other creatures, I pulled shadow from my EDH deck. 1v1 is less effective, but i've played a ton of 4 or 5 player games, and my deck is usually unstoppable.
The queen/basal/gemhide combo is good. But if you want a decent win situation that costs less mana. Psionic sliver + scythe of the wretched and any 1/1 sliver = win, nobody really sees it coming if you've already got a 1/1 sliver out and opponents are tapped its 5 mana to play psionic and 2 for scythe, I however have a few artifact search cards, including tinker. for ANYONE playing a sliver deck an Urzas Incubator is CLUUUUTCH spells cost 2 less. making it a 5 mana win condition. boo yah =)

Sinew Sliver isn't redundant, is cumulative. I use Muscle + Sinew.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the feedback. The shadow sliver is definitely all about the game state when you drop him. He's invaluable when you have a bunch of small guys and the the poison counter sliver, for example. But yes, you're correct about the way shadow functions. You would be unable to block, until your creature stopped being a sliver.

About Shadow Sliver. You might not want this in EDH. That means that, yes, your opponent cannot block unless the blocking creature has shadow, but that goes the other way. If a creature has shadow, it cannot block creatures without shadow. You would be saying "go ahead and hit me with anything." Read the text.

hey Brandon, thanks for the excellent comment. I definitely agree with you re: amoeboid changeling. My teammate Zak had actually nailed me for that oversight in my article as well. I definitely run the changeling these days. Alas, as of yet I'm unable to find a sliver queen for my deck so I haven't played as much as I was hoping just yet.

As for the combo, I agree with its intention. More effects like the changeling are desirable. But in EDH, you are allowed only one copy of each nonbasic card. So the one changeling is in, but I can't run 4. Other cards I've been using for the same effect are:

unnatural selection - actually much better than changeling... sort of a changeling machine gun.

mistform mutant - a slower version of the above... worse than changeling for its speed.

imagecrafter - a faster changeling

another cute one is "standardize", but it's not really effective.

Thanks again for the feedback.

I know you mentioned that you should remove Amoeboid Changeling from the set but it acually has one very powerful use. Use its ability with Sliver Overlord and you can literally steal every creature your opponent plays! Its evil enough that slivers become more wicked the more you play, but that you can use Amoeboid Changeling to make ANY target creature into a shapchanger with every creature type (including sliver) you can take any strong creature your opponent plays and use Sliver Overloard's ability to immediately and permenently control any sliver an opponent controls (ie: the the newly changed changeling) where you can either keep it to attack/defend with, or be even more sinister and sacrfice it to fuel any abilities that require sacrifice while it still counts as a sliver (bassal sliver's ability comes to mind).

Added last minute thoughts on this combo that should be noted incude: Remember that Amoeboid Changeling's ability only lasts for the round so if your gonna attack with the creature you steal do it immediately while it still benefits from being a sliver. Also, Amoeboid Changeling sadly can only change one creature at a time so to be able to truly shut down even the most swift playing decks you will need to boost how many you can steal by either adding more Amoeboid Changeling's or adding cards that let you untap it. Both if you want to be completely sure your ready. I personally used 4 Amoeboid Changelings plus untap abilities agenst an elf deck with beautiful results.

If its possible Id like to hear the original authors thoughts on my combo...

This deck looks awesome! I just ordered it the other day, and I was thinking of making most of the changes you were suggesting. But why would you leave virulent sliver in? poison counters=no fun
