Zendikar Full-frame Islands revealed
August 11th, 2009 by joe
As promised yesterday, Wizards has revealed the new full frame Islands on the back of their announcement yesterday of the Plains. These feature some awesome artwork. I was torn trying to choose which was a cooler image for this post, so I’ll show both. However, I urge you, dear reader, to check out the large size images here as well. Pretty dang cool. Whatever Zendikar is about, it seems to involve huge monolithic objects moving and floating aroundcausing havoc… and that’s just the basic lands!
Here’s the first island they revealed (dig the cyclones / general havoc):

Island 1
And the other one:

Island 2
Amazing stuff.

I still have Alluring Siren as my desktop, but those Islands look amazing. I actually expect foils of these to be a hot commodity for some time.

Isn’t “Island 1″ above just amazing? Lovely artwork.
I think they should print full-frame versions of the more iconic rares / mythics as well… they could throw them in like once every ten printings… so every tenth baneslayer is full-frame foil… or even just make all foil mythics full-frame… I guess the real problem there is n00bs not knowing wtf the card does, so it’ll never work. They should at least make all “vanilla” creatures full-frame a’la future sight.

Full-frame lands look totally epic – so very sweet. Interesting that Island #2 (the Vincent Proce one) is the only one to date without any obelisks. The stone crucibles are wickedly surreal and makes one think that pesky portals may be to blame.

i think i like the plains best so far. still have yet to see the mountains or the forests. both could be equally awesome!! i can’t emphasize enough, i’m SOOO glad we have full panel.
